Westbourne Academy London is close to the Tower of London and the business and shopping district of Canary Wharf and a ten-minute walk from the River Thames footpath where you can walk along the river or take a ferry to Greenwich or the city centre. The school is easy to access by many buses or trains.
When you enrol at the academy you become a student of New City College London so you can access the libraries, gym, cafes and social areas of the college and mix with a wide range of UK students.

Banks have different opening times, check with your branch before going there. If you wish to open a bank account, please ask at the reception for a letter and take it to the bank.

Money can be changed in most banks and the post office.
Westfields is one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe, and it is only a few stops away on the DLR. There is also another shopping area in Canary Wharf, only two stops away from the academy.
If you need an English number, we can help you find the best option for you. Sim cards can be purchased online, in supermarket and other specialised shops.
Pubs are generally open from 11.00 – 24.00. Please remember that under 18’s are not allowed to buy or drink alcohol.

Homestays and private homes
Westbourne Academy can arrange accommodation for students who take courses at the academy. Homestay providers are carefully selected by our partner Britannia. They have an exceptionally good choice of homestay accommodation offering hundreds of great rooms throughout London (zones 1-5). All Britannia homestays are conveniently located, close to public transport and offer a high standard of accommodation in London. Students can benefit from the chance to practice their English.

House shares and homestays are a great way to book single, double and twin room accommodation by the room or by the bed in a modern and well decorated house in London. Most of our house shares are in Zone 3, a quick train or bus journey away from central London.

Terms and conditions: Minimum stay 2 weeks. A one-off supplement of £15 will apply to bookings of under 2 weeks. Bookings cannot be cut short within the first 4 weeks of stay. Thereafter, 2 weeks notice will apply. Cancellation, postponement and curtailment of stay received less than 1 week prior to arrival will incur a charge of 1 week, plus booking fee. No refund will be made for no shows. A one-time non-refundable booking fee of £25 will apply to all bookings. Rates are valid from 1 January 2018 – 31 December 2018, but are subject to change.

GENERAL ENGLISH AND GOLF
HOURS PER WEEK
Bournemouth – 13 hours and 20 minutes ( 10 lessons )

For General Main English course we offer classes for Beginner, Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Higher Intermediate and Advanced levels. ( CEFR A1 – C2 )
Students with a beginner level of English can only start at the beginning of each term 2019: 7th January, 4th March, 29th April, 24th June, 2nd September and 28th October
COURSE INFORMATION / LEARNING OBJECTIVE
The General English Course will cover the most important aspects of learning English including vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation which will help you to improve the four main language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. At the end of the course you should be able to communicate in English more confidently in a variety of situations. The following are included in the course fees:
* Intake test and welcome information on your first day
* Friendly, qualified teachers
* Interactive whiteboards in the main classrooms
* Use of coursebooks and free materials
* Modern teaching materials. The students can access free online supplementary learning materials as part of this course
* Regular progress tests to assess your level
* Tutorials with your teachers every 8 weeks to guide your learning
* Talk to the academic managers at any time
* Leaving Certificate at the end of your studies (students attending a course for 4 weeks or more will receive an additional report from their teacher)
* FREE WIFI available throughout the whole school
* FREE use of the self-study facilities (Listening Centre & Reading Centre)
The course content is as follows:
*Five half days English lessons and either two or three sessions of Golf Lessons (1 hour per session + practice)
*Lessons are designed to improve all parts of the golfer’s game and are given by a PGA professional. They consist of tuition and monitored practice. The professional will provide golf clubs and balls for use during lessons and practice.
*Golf lessons can be in groups of two or more or on an individual basis. The students can play rounds of golf once they have an appropriate level of golf or if they hold a handicap certificate.
*Golf lessons include a video swing analysis and a swing machine analysis.
*Please note there is a dress code during the golf lessons which means no jeans or shorts or collarless shirts.
*Parkstone Golf Club has a fully stocked Pro-shop where the professional can advise the golfers on the purchase of golf equipment.
