We are old friends of Westbourne Academy and we have been visiting them for many years now, but this time everything was a little bit different and even more special since it was the first time to go again after the pandemic. Being in contact with Mr. Mark Halls was a pleasure because he helped us to plan and materialise the project. We were working together for several months to set everything ready and make the experience possible for the students. Even at the last minute, we had a problem with a student who couldn't fly there and they made the process very easy to restructure the group. We were a large group, the largest ever, and everyone was really happy to have the opportunity to live such a great experience. When we arrived at Westbourne Academy, everything was arranged, the host families were coming to pick up the students, and they were going to meet for the first time. The students were exhausted from visiting London for three days and nervous to discover their host families. But as the hours and days were passing, they were becoming more relaxed and confident. Starting classes on Monday morning was a difficult time for them, but as soon as they met all the team working there, they felt comfortable. The teachers were helpful and they learnt useful things at their classes. Having classes all morning was fantastic, since they were well organized and very didactic. Lunch time was also fun, they enjoyed the meals and the time together. During the afternoons we visited Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Corfe and Salisbury. Then the students enjoyed dinner with the families and practised their English. In the evenings and with the helpful work of the team at the Academy, they had fun bowling and going to Laser Quest together. The nine days we were in England ran extremely fast and we wished we could have stayed there for another week, but it was time to go back home to Spain. We want to thank all the members at Westbourne Academy, the organization of the time we spent and the activities we did there and their warm welcome. We are already looking forward to visiting you again next year!
