Hello, fellow language enthusiasts and cinema lovers! I’m Simona Restifo Pecorella, and I’m here to share with you the exciting tale of how I found my destiny at WA Academy.
As fate would have it, the majority of my former housemates during my previous homestay were WA Academy alumni. Their tales of brilliance and the incredible experiences they had at the Academy fueled my curiosity and, little did I know, set the stage for my own journey.
My academic journey has been a fascinating blend of Interpreting & Translation, coupled with a Master’s Degree in Cinema & TV Translation and Subtitles. It’s safe to say that my love for languages and the magic of the silver screen has shaped who I am today.
Movies are not just a pastime for me; they’re a passion. As a cinema aficionado, there’s nothing more exhilarating than watching a film unfold, especially when it’s in one of the three languages I fluently speak. It adds an extra layer of connection and appreciation that’s hard to put into words.
Beyond the realm of academia, my life is a tapestry woven with the threads of diverse experiences. Living in different countries has become a hobby of mine, each new journey unveiling unique cultures and perspectives. From the bustling streets of one city to the tranquil shores of another, I find joy in embracing the beauty of our diverse world.
Languages, oh, how they enrich our lives! Whether it’s a lyrical conversation, the rhythm of karaoke, or the subtle nuances in a movie, languages are the bridge to understanding and connecting with one another. They’re not just words; they’re the keys to unlocking the doors of different worlds.
And then there’s karaoke, my not-so-secret guilty pleasure. There’s something liberating about belting out tunes in different languages, transcending barriers through the universal language of music.
Brisk walks by the beach are my therapy sessions. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore, the salty breeze, and the endless horizon – it’s a sensory experience that rejuvenates my mind and soul.
Cooking and coffee, the dynamic duo that brings people together. Exploring culinary delights from various cultures is a culinary journey in itself. And of course, no day is complete without the comforting embrace of a well-brewed cup of coffee.
